HISTORY

Elmwood Church traces its beginning back to 1961 when Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church of Newark merged with Elmwood United Presbyterian Church of East Orange to form Elmwood United Presbyterian Church.  Elmwood is predominately African American church with over 1,000 members.  Elmwood seeks to serve all people regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, or national origin.  We delight in the privilege of representing the Kingdom of God in our worship, fellowship, and service and extend an open invitation to all who would be led of the Spirit to join us.
